Take a Virtual TourI first joined The Hive, Wirral Youth Zone to be with my friends as we all go to the same school and they were going to come here, so we all decided to go together. When I first came, I was excited and energetic because there was a lot for us to do as a group, like singing in the music room which was fun.
I didn’t really like doing sports much because the boys, especially in football, wouldn’t pass to me or let me join in, so I didn’t really bother. This changed when me and my friends were asked if we wanted to do the Girl Power Project. Once the youth workers explained that we’d learn about the influence of women’s sport and that we’d get the chance to try sports I’d never played, me and my friends immediately wanted to do it because it was just for girls and sounded fun.
I never really played a lot of sports in school or even when I first started at The Hive. Since doing the project I have played more sports. I felt safe when playing, it was just about having fun and a laugh, the boys take it too seriously sometimes. I have also met some new people from doing the project and learnt how to work as part of a team. I think I have become more sporty since doing the project, especially since my friends did the project with me as we can all go and do sports together and have fun.
