Take a Virtual TourChorley’s Inspire Youth Zone’s 100-day countdown to the grand opening has launched, as the hugely anticipated opening date is revealed as Saturday 5th May 2018.
Pupils at Holy Cross Catholic High School celebrated the launch of the 100-day countdown to opening as they learned more about what the Youth Zone will offer Chorley’s young people.
Students were thrilled to discover that the £4.8million facility, which is located on Chapel Street, will include a 3G kick pitch, indoor climbing wall, dance studio, fully equipped gym, sports hall, boxing ring and much more – offering them 20 activities each night for just 50p per visit.
The Youth Zone is being run in partnership with Chorley Council, Lancashire County Council, The Arts Partnership and OnSide Youth Zones.
This key milestone marks the start of a number of key events leading up to the Youth Zone opening date on Saturday 5th May 2018, including a whole host of pre-opening events for young people and the community to preview and test out the Youth Zone before it officially opens.
Janine Blythe, Chief Executive at Inspire Youth Zone said: “I’d like to thank all of our supporters and Founder Patrons who have made Inspire Youth Zone possible – it promises to be an inspirational place that will transform the lives of young people and benefit our entire community.”
County Councillor Susie Charles, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools, said: ” I’m really looking forward to seeing the new Chorley Inspire Youth Zone open.
“Once open, the Youth Zone will provide an important service that will give thousands of young people from Chorley and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to try new activities, get active and develop their skills.
“As well as providing positive activities, the Youth Zones will be a base for services providing early support to vulnerable young people.
“I’d like to thank everyone who’s been involved in getting the Youth Zone to this stage for their hard work and determination.”
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council, said: “I’m really looking to seeing the youth zone open. It’s been exciting seeing it being built and it will give our younger
generation a wide variety of engaging activities to take part in, 7 days per week. Inspire Youth Zone is a world-class facility that will transform youth provision within the borough, a project that we are proud to support.”
Over 250 young people have already registered to become members of Inspire, with membership expected to reach 3,000 in the Youth Zone’s first year of opening.
