‘Clean Green Hyundai Team’ raise £12K for Young People

20th October 2015 by OnSide 2 min

The ‘Clean Green Hyundai Team’ have raised £12,000 for OnSide Youth Zones after a team of dedicated supporters completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon recently.

Hyundai, who were also the event co-sponsor, had a team of 12 runners who all united to raise money for young people of our Youth Zone network.

The dedicated team consisted of: Tony Whitehorn, Martin Wilson, Marc Studholme, Paul Robinson, Denis Watling, Andrew McIndoe, Tyler Townsend, Daniel Moore, Gareth Thomas, Jo Ball, Sean Rigg and David Blackmore – the latter completed the 13.1 mile run in a hugely impressive time of 1hr 30m.

Martin Wilson said of the challenge: “Our experiences of the run were amazing. 16,000 competitors all enthused and motivated, stood on the start line behind the new Hyundai Tucson. However once we started the enormity of the task became clear, 13.1 miles of pounding Royal Parks and I am not built for running! Despite all the pain and suffering, it was all worth it because we raised a good amount of money for the young people of the OnSide Youth Zone Network. Hopefully our efforts can help OnSide give more young people somewhere safe to go in their leisure time and develop awareness as to their objectives.”

He added: “Our fund raising efforts were further enhanced from within the Hyundai family, specifically our franchised retailer partners and external suppliers. Also a big thank you to our customers taking part in the challenge who all made significant contributions, not least Enterprise Rent a Car, Motability, Paragon and Fleet Alliance.”

Clare Warburton, OnSide Youth Zones Development and Events Co-ordinator said: “It’s thanks to people like Marc and his team of runners that OnSide are able to give young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to in their leisure time. The Hyundai team’s efforts have not gone unnoticed among the young people and we are hugely grateful for their efforts and financial support.”

OnSide want to pay a special mention to Enterprise Rent a Car for their huge financial support as well as the principle donators from Enterprise Rent a Car, Franchised Dealers in the Hyundai Network, Hyundai Partners, colleagues, friends and family of the 12 runners as well as the runners themselves.
