Take a Virtual TourOver 40 young people gathered at The Vibe Youth Centre in Dagenham last night to kick off the brand identity development for their new Youth Zone.
The session, led by Studio 3 Arts – a local performing arts charity, involved a range of activities to get the group thinking creatively about what they want their Youth Zone to represent in their local community.
From body mapping, to logo design the young people really embraced the session, sharing their ideas on what the foundation of Barking and Dagenham Youth Zone’s brand values and mission should be for years to come.

Last night’s session was the first of six workshops, which will see young people create a brand identity, including logo and brand values that will become synonymous with the new Youth Zone in time for opening in 2018.
“By talking to the people and the staff you can really see how the Youth Zones have helped the are and how the one in Barking and Dagenham will help give the kids something to do.” Sophie (Arc Theatre).
To seek inspiration for their important task, 14 young people from the group headed to the North West over the weekend to visit some of our existing Youth Zones.
Welcomed by Wigan Youth Zone, The Factory and Mahdlo, the group were able to see first hand what a Youth Zone actually is and what will be on offer in Barking and Dagenham. They also got to try our rare delicacy of chips and gravy whilst on a trip to Manchester city centre – a fitting introduction to the North!
“The visit to the Youth Zones has been fun and inspiring. People loved to see all the facilities and take part on designing the Youth Zone.” Georgia, 13 (The Vibe).
