Take a Virtual TourOnSide is committed to providing career development opportunities to continually enrich our offer for young people. The development of the OnSide Talent Academy is one of the unique ways we aim to ensure we have exceptional talent across the network, and we are now delighted to announce a new, unique partnership with the National Youth Agency (NYA) as an additional strand to our learning and development offer.
As the national body for Youth Work, the NYA strives to build and equip the youth work workforce for today and tomorrow and shares OnSide’s vision to help young people build healthier, happier, more aspirational futures. With this in mind, the NYA have developed a bespoke Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice tailored specifically for employees delivering operational youth work across the OnSide network.
Funded by OnSide, over 20 learners from the network, who are committed to a career in youth work, are set to hugely benefit from being part of the very first cohort to update their knowledge, skills and understanding in youth work, whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification (A-level equivalent) underpinned by the national occupational standards in youth work. Running from February 2019 for 12 months, members will also have the massively beneficial opportunity of working alongside their experienced counterparts, thus building effective working relationships from across the OnSide network, whilst working on their own personal development.
It is of huge importance to the NYA, OnSide and the Youth Work sector that we are able to invest in our employees and promote youth work as a professional career choice and work together to be leaders in youth work developments.
Abbee McLatchie from the NYA states:
“We are delighted to work with OnSide to deliver the Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice, which aims to support the skills and knowledge needed to become a competent and qualified Lead Youth Support Worker in an OnSide Youth Zone environment. The Diploma seeks to support Youth Worker’s abilities to promote young people’s personal and social development and enable young people to have a voice, influence and place in their communities and society as a whole.”
