Pringle Homes pledges support for Preston Youth Zone

14th February 2024 by OnSide 3 min

Pringle Homes is the latest local business to support the city’s young people by becoming a Founder Patron of Preston Youth Zone.

As a Founder Patron, Pringle Homes will make a contribution towards the charity’s annual running costs, which will help the new Youth Zone provide first class facilities, opportunities and support for thousands of young people living in Preston and beyond.

Expected to open in 2025, the Youth Zone will be located in the city centre on the corner of Crooked Lane and Tithebarn Street.

Once opened, Preston Youth Zone will be an independent charity with a private-sector led board. It will be part of our Network of 14 youth centres (called Youth Zones) nationwide, supporting over 50,000 young people annually. Youth Zones are open to young people aged between eight and 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs), seven days a week, for just 50p a visit. Members will have access to an indoor climbing wall, four court sports hall, training kitchen, music room with a recording studio, fully equipped gym, dance and drama studio, 3G kick pitch, arts and crafts room, enterprise and employability suite.

In addition to the incredible facilities, trained youth workers and dedicated volunteers will be available 7 days a week to offer guidance and support to help Preston’s young people to thrive. It will create permanent full and part-time jobs, as well as volunteering opportunities.

In March is was announced that all of the building costs for the youth centre have been raised thanks to support from Preston City Council, the Towns Fund and the DCMS’s Youth Investment Fund. The generous donation from Pringle Homes continues the Founder Patron campaign designed to achieve long-term sustainability, ensuring Preston Youth Zone will be an asset to the community transforming young people’s lives for generations to come.

Pringle Homes is a local, family-run business keen to support initiatives that provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people living in the area. Commercial Director of Pringle Homes, Sam Fleuriot commented on the partnership saying:

“We are thrilled to be a Founder Patron of Preston Youth Zone. The youth in our city are hugely important to our future. Preston Youth Zone will support and encourage many young people to take positive paths in life, fulfilling their potential and contributing to their community. We are very pleased to help with this great cause.”

Guy Topping, Preston Youth Zone Chair commented on the news saying:

“We are delighted to welcome Pringle Homes to the Preston Youth Zone Founder Patron family. To have the support of a renowned local business means a lot and every penny of their generous gift will directly benefit young people from Preston and beyond, for years to come.”

Preston Youth Zone is being delivered in partnership with OnSide, Preston City Council and Preston Towns Fund Board and is supported by a number of businesses and philanthropists.

Planning permission for Preston Youth Zone was granted in July and work is set to begin on site in the coming months. A group of local young people are currently being brought together to support with the development of the Youth Zone prior to opening, including helping to come up with the name and brand of the Youth Zone.

We continue to raise the remainder of the first four years’ running costs for Preston Youth Zone and urge local businesses and philanthropists to join the Founder Patron family.
