The only way is up as HideOut Youth Zone takes shape

13th September 2019 by OnSide 2 min

The only way is up for East Manchester’s HideOut Youth Zone as work continues on the £6.6million Youth Zone steel superstructure.

Located on Hyde Road in Gorton, HideOut Youth Zone is a brand-new charity which will provide thousands of young Mancunians with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

Developed in partnership with OnSide Youth Zones, Manchester City Council and the local business community, HideOut Youth Zone is set to open for young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, in Summer 2020.

Work on the Youth Zone started earlier this year and there has been good process on-site with the steel frame installation, drainage and foundations now complete. In the upcoming weeks, work on-site will see the completion of the ground floor and first-floor concrete floor slabs as well as the continuation of the external and internal masonry walls.

Once open HideOut Youth Zone will host an impressive indoor climbing wall, four-court sports hall, dance and drama studio, fully equipped gym, skate park, enterprise and employability suite, arts and crafts studio, health and wellbeing room, boxing and martial arts studio, training kitchen and much more, all available to young people 7 days a week, for just 50p per visit.

Adam Farricker, Chief Executive at HideOut Youth Zone said:
“As work progresses on site, young people and the wider community can start to see the incredible investment being made here for the city’s young people, which has only been made possible with thanks to the generous support from our Patrons.

“As a charity, our aim is to provide Manchester’s young people to with a safe and inspiring place to spend their leisure time, where they can develop their skills, discover their talents and achieve their goals. If you would like to give back to Manchester’s young people and join us on this exciting journey then please get in touch. ”
