Take a Virtual TourLast week young people, volunteers, parents, carers, and members of staff from Warrington Youth Club, attended the Key 103 Time to Shine Awards, held at the amazing “Monastery” in Gorton, in Manchester.
Two members of the Club, Zak Cameron and Kyle Webster were nominated for the Young Community Hero Award for their role in running the Buddy Up cinema night for the past two years for disabled children, young people and their families.
The Befriending Programme, ‘Buddy Up’, was nominated for the Investing Back Award for the support that its volunteers have given to disabled children and young people from across Warrington. Zak, Kyle and Buddy Up won their respective awards and received heartfelt applause from the 150 strong audience.
The Time to Shine Awards were organised by the team from the charity Cash for Kids, part of Manchester based radio station Key 103. In total 19 awards were presented to people, organisations and projects that had made a real difference to the lives of people across the Greater Manchester region.
Nuvvy Sibia, Buddy Up Coordinator of Warrington Youth Club commented: “ We are thrilled that Zak and Kyle have been recognised for the amazing work that they undertake on planning and hosting the film night on a fortnightly basis. I am also honoured to manage the Buddy Up project and see the incredible impact that young volunteers make each day on the lives of disabled children and young people, whom they support. The integrity, the compassion, and the humility that our “Buddy” volunteers display on a daily basis, is testimony to the success of the project. Key 103 has really supported Warrington Youth Club in a range of ways including the Christmas Toy Appeal and allowing a disabled young man the chance to fulfil his lifelong ambition to visit a radio station. We are so grateful for the support from all the staff at Key 103 and Cash for Kids – thank you.”
