Young Ambassadors rewarded for efforts

6th May 2015 by Onside Youth Zones 2 min

Here at OnSide Youth Zones, we value our young people’s involvement.

OnSide is committed to involving young people at every stage of development of a Youth Zone. Young people’s active participation in every aspect of design and ongoing management of a facility is fundamental to our approach.

And that is exactly what has been happening with Wolverhampton’s new Youth Zone – The Way. Young Youth Zone Ambassadors from across the network have recently played an imperative part in making sure The Way, along with a number of other OnSide projects are where they are today in terms of progress.

The group of Ambassadors from Mahdlo and The Factory have shown dedication and passion not just towards their Youth Zone, but to OnSide and our mission of building 100 Youth Zones.

Hannah Creer (The Factory), Ashford Bailey, Shannon Green and Tamara Greaves (Mahdlo) have all regularly presented their thoughts, experiences and life changing results their Youth Zone has delivered for them to future patrons of future Youth Zones.

And the four Ambassadors were rewarded for their efforts with a unique, once in a life-time trip to Molineux Stadium to watch Wolverhampton Wanderers take on Ipswich Town FC.

They were given a special guided tour of the stadium, sat in the dug-out like professional footballers, met the mascot and players before they settled down in their own private box to watch the match!

Dave Barton, OnSide Youth Zones, Young Person’s Engagement Manager commented: “The group have done a fantastic job over recent months helping OnSide secure vital support for future Youth Zones.

“We thought it was only fair, we re-paid the faith the young people have in their Youth Zones and OnSide by treating them to the Wolves FC VIP experience. A big thanks must go to Chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and The Way Youth Zone, Steve Morgan for his kind gesture.

“We value all young people’s views and engagement in our Youth Zone projects and I am sure the Ambassadors will continue to make a hugely positive impact in the months to come!”

If you are a young person and want to get involved in the development of future Youth Zones please contact Dave Barton on: David.Barton@OnSideYouthZones.org.
