Funding provided by the Prudence Trust has enabled Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone’s to run a Creative Arts project which uses art as an outlet and a way of supporting mental health.

Not only is the programme opening discussion and debate on the topic of mental health and wellbeing, but it also working with local artists. The participants first project was making their own sculptures, with local sculpture artist Thompson working with the group as well as Kate Daudy showing them round her exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

The Creative Arts project:

  • Provides an opportunity for Inspire Youth Zone to work with ‘professional’ artists within their arts project, alongside the Arts Coordinator.
  • Broaden the scope of activity within the arts project in line with the Try, Train, Team model.
  • 200-250 young people would be involved each year at a universal offer level and 100-150 will take their skills further on specific arts projects.
